His first work is “I am here now – tales of young exiles from the lands of former Yugoslavia,” an exhibition on the stories of young Yugoslavs who fled to Switzerland during the wars in the 1990s. In 2015, he staged a visual and auditory adaptation of Samuel Beckett’s radio drama “Words and Music,” selected for the Rencontre Théâtrales Suisse 2016. He later produced three radio works by Friedrich Dürrenmatt: “The Trial for the Shadow of the Donkey” (selected by Pro Helvetia ViaVai+ Cultural Smuggling between Ticino and Lombardy), “Operation Vega” (Chiasso/Letteraria), and “Autumn Evening.”

With the one-to-one performance “Secret Sound Stories,” he was invited to the Biennale dell’Immagine in Chiasso (2014), Trasparenze Modena (2015), AltoFest Naples (2016), AltoFest Valletta, Malta (2018), and the Ural Industrial Biennale, Russia (2021).

In 2016, he served on the professional jury at the 6th SonOhr in Bern. In 2017, he was selected for a seminar by Pro Helvetia at the Singapore International Festival of Art. In 2018, he was in residence at LAC and pursued a master’s in directing under the guidance of director Carmelo Rifici and tutor/dramaturge Francesca Garolla. His final project was the staging of Elfriede Jelinek’s “JACKIE.”

In December 2020, he directed a mise-en-espace of Agota Kristof’s “The Epidemic,” translated by Marco Lodoli and produced by the Teatro Sociale in Bellinzona. His audio-visual exhibition “Binaural Views of Switzerland,” inaugurated at USI – Accademia di Architettura in November 2019, was selected by Pro Helvetia for the Swiss Selection Edinburgh 2021 (UK), FIT Festival del Teatro e della Scena Contemporanea 2020 (CH), PHOTO IS:rael 2020 (IL).

In 2021, he coordinated the first year of “Luminanza – a reactor for Swiss Italian-language dramaturgy,” offering seven young authors a one-year training in contemporary dramaturgy.

In addition to theatrical and artistic works, Alan is involved in social radio projects. He co-founded several student and community radios for socio-cultural associations in Switzerland, Benin, and Morocco. In 2018, he founded his music label, Humankind Records, producing “Talk in a bit” by British sound poet Hannah Silva, along with Bernese drummer Julian Sartorius. The album entered the top 25 albums of 2018 selected by The Wire Magazine. With the Markus Zohner Arts Company, he has realized productions such as “APOCALYPSE 2072 | end.begin,” “Radio Scatenata,” and “PROUST IN PRISON.
